ADMISSION CRITERIA AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
Admission to the BHM course at the Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Bangalore, will be on inter-se merit of the candidates based on a Written Admission Test and Interview. English is the medium of instruction for the BHM programme at the Institute. Admission to the BHM course shall be provisional. Admission will be completed after confirmation of eligibility by the Bangalore University.
ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must belong to one of the following categories:-
- Wards of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army.
- Wards of ex Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalised family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
- Wards of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge/release after ten years of service. (Certificate -1 & Certificate - 2 should be attached).(Certificate -1 & Certificate - 2 should be attached).
- Adopted/Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows.
(i) Adopted child of Army personnel, at least five years prior to seeking admission. (Certificate - 5 should be attached)
(ii)
Children of Widows of Army Personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of remarriage with Non-Army personnel would not be eligible for admission. (Certificate - 6 should be attached).
(iii)
Step Children are eligible provided they are born out of a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army. (Certificate - 7 should be attached).
- Eligibility Criteria in Special Class.
Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army/Dental/Corps Officers Presently Serving with IN/IAF. Wards of only those ex Army medical officers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years. (Certificate - 3 should be attached)
- Children of APS Personnel:-
(i) Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per the clarification given in the Govt of India, Min. of Def. letter No.9 ( 5/2)88/D (Res) dated 19 July 1989.
(ii) Children of only those APS personnel who are on deputation and have put in atleast 10 years of service in the Army.
(iii) Children of APS personnel who are directly recruited into APS and completed 10 years of regular service in APS and of those who, as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from the APS after completing their minimum pensionable service.
- Children of MNS/TA personnel
(i) Children of only those MNS officers who have 10 years service as regular Army MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
(ii)
Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service. (Certificate - 4 should be attached).
- Candidate who are ineligible.
(i) Those who are not included in any of the categories mentioned in the paragraph above 7 (a) to (g) on the date of commencement of the course.
(ii) A candidate who has passed any examination of a Statutory University recognized as equivalent to the course in the college shall not be permitted to appear for the examination for the same course.
- WEIGHTAGE TO THE WARDS OF GALLANTRY AWARD WINNERS.
Weightage for admission to the wards of gallantry award winners will be as under:
(a) Gallantry Award Weightage
(i) Param Vir Chakra 5%
(ii) Ashok Chakra 5%
(iii) Mahavir Chakra 4%
(iv) Kirti Chakra 4%
(v) Vir Chakra 3%
(vi) Shaurya Chakra 3%
(vii) Sena Medal (Gallantry only) 3%
(b) Distinguished Service in War/Conflict/Hostilities
(i) Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal 3%
(ii) Uttam Yudh Seva Medal 2%
(iii) Yudh Seva Medal 1%
(c) Mention in dispatches 1%
(d) Wards of War Widows 5%
PROOF OF GALLANTRY AWARDS
A certified photocopy of the part II order/ Gazette notification conferring the award should be attached with the completed copy of application form for claiming the weightage.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION
The candidate should have passed 10+ 2 examination or its equivalent in any academic stream with English as compulsory subject. Candidates can also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that they produce the proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. All provisional admissions will stand cancelled if the proof of having passed the qualifying examination 10 + 2, or its equivalent is not submitted by due date of joining the Institute as per joining instructions.
AGE
The candidate should not be more than 22 years of age as on 01 July 2010. The date of birth recorded in the matriculation or equivalent examination certificate will be considered as proof.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
The candidate should have good general health with satisfactory limits for chest expansion and contraction, normal vision and hearing. In case of defective vision, it must be corrected to 6/9 in both eyes or 6/6 in the better eye. Defective hearing should also be corrected. There should be no abnormality in heart and lungs and no history of mental disease or epileptic seizures. The candidates must get themselves examined by the nearest military hospital/registered medical practitioner and attach certificate of physical fitness along with the application form (Certificate – 8 should be attached).
