WRITTEN ADMISSION TEST

(a)  Examination Centres: Eligible candidates will specify their eligibilty, as per the eligibility criteria will appear at any one of the following centres (as opted by them) for the Written Admission Test (WAT) on  22 Apr  2010 (Thursday).

(b)       Time:  Candidates to report at 1400 hrs.  The duration of the Written Admission  Test will be from 1430 hrs to 1730 hrs on 22 Apr 2010.

(c)       Objective Test:  The competitive Written Admission Test will comprise of four parts containing objective type questions to test the following:-
                        (i)        Reasoning and logical deduction
                        (ii)       Numerical ability and scientific aptitude.
                        (iii)      Command and test of English language.
                        (iv)      General Knowledge.

(d)       The sample question paper is attached with the prospectus.
(e)       The result of WAT will be tentatively published on the Institute website by 15 May 2010.

ADMIT CARD

The Admit Card for the Written Admission Test will be posted to the candidates by Registered  Post to the address given by him/her  on  the  application form.  If a candidate fails to receive the Admit Card by 10 Apr 2010, he/she should enquire over telephone (080) 64546807/64543207 or  email to the Institute email id –principal@aihmctbangalore.com. Application form number should be quoted for all correspondence. In case a candidate has lost/misplaced the Admit Card, he/she should inform the Institute and personally contact the Presiding Officer at the WAT Centre for further instructions. Candidates are requested to write their postal address clearly and affix stamps of the requisite value (Rs 40/-) for registered post ensuring its quick delivery.

ATTENDANCE CARD
Attendance card will be available with the officer-in-charge of the Examination Centre opted by the candidate.

INTERVIEW
On the basis of performance in the Written Admission Test, candidates will be invited for a personal interview at AIHM&CT, Bangalore. The final selection will be based on the performance in the Written Admission Test followed by personal interview.  The first 60 merit listed candidates will be offered admission. The decision of the Managing Committee in the selection of the candidates will be final.
No conveyance charges will be paid for appearing in the Written Admission Test and Interview.

MODE OF SELECTION FOR ADMISSION

(a)       Merit List    The admission will be strictly on merit ranking based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Written Admission Test (WAT) and Interview in the ratio of 60:40.
(b)  Relative Merit in case of equal marks: In case of candidates securing equal number of marks, their relative merit will be reassessed inter-se on the basis of securing higher aggregate marks in the qualifying examination, ie, 10+2 or its equivalent, will be given first preference. In case 10+2 or its equivalent marks has not been produced till the day of interview, the 10th std marks will be taken to reassess the merit.

ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER OF ADMISSION

          (a)         Selection : On final selection the candidate will be informed by registered letter to join the BHM course. On receipt of offer of admission, the candidate should acknowledge his/her acceptance to join the course along with a registration fees of Rs 10,000/- by DD in favour of AIHM&CT payable at Bangalore  by registered post on or before the specified date, failing which the offer of admission will be withdrawn.
           (b)        The candidate who has accepted the offer of admission to the BHM course but fails to join by the due date, forfeits his/her admission to the BHM course for that particular year.  Delays in postal service/ courier service will not be accepted.

     Candidates who have not accepted the offer of admission and not joined the course as per schedule, shall not be considered again for admission to the BHM course in AIHM & CT during the academic year for which he/she is selected.

Certificates to be submitted at the time of Admission in original. The following certificates in original will be submitted to the Principal at the time of admission.

(a) Marks card and pass Certificate 10+2 examination or equivalent examination.
(b) Pass Certificate and Marks card of SSC (Class 10) or equivalent examination.    
(c) School/Institute Leaving Certificate (after qualifying examination).
(d) Bonafide Certificate: Certificate from the Principal of the College/Institute last attended by the Candidate mentioning the period of attendance of the candidate.
(e)  Character Certificate: Certificate of good moral character from the Head of the Institution last attended.
(f) For Candidates passing qualifying examination other than Karnataka state, copies of the following certificates are required to be submitted.
                        (i)         Migration Certificate: Certificate from the Registrar of the University Board                                                from which the candidate has passed the qualifying examination.
                        (ii)        Pass Certificate: Certificate signed by the Registrar
                                                            or
The Principal of the Institute last attended stating the examination passed  and the subjects.

Copies of certificates attached to the application form (whether photocopies or typewritten) should be attested by the Principal of the college or a Gazetted officer or  Head Master of Secondary school or a Faculty Member of a college.  Original certificate should not be sent with application but should be brought at the time of interview and admission. 

ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES

     All original certificates shall be submitted for verification to the Principal, AIHM & CT, at the time of the admission. A candidate to whom admission is offered should produce his/her original School/Institute Leaving Certificate (after qualifying examination) and Marks card of the qualifying examination, (together with four attested copies of each) will be retained by AIHM & CT.  Candidates are advised to keep attested copies of the certificates with them for their reference. 

     The Principal, AIHM & CT or the person authorized by him will give a certificate to the effect that the School/Institute Leaving Certificate and the Marks Card of the qualifying examination have been retained by AIHM & CT. These certificates are to be submitted to Bangalore University for approval.

      If a candidate is unable to produce the above two original certificates  (as per para 29) at the time of his/her admission on account of his/her prior admission to some other institution, he/she will have to produce a certificate from the head of the Institution where he/she has been admitted, stating his/her original certificates have been retained by that Institution.  In such a case, the candidate, if admitted to AIHM & CT, should give an undertaking that he/she will submit the original certificates to AIHM & CT within 15 days of his/her admission to AIHM & CT failing which his/her admission will be withdrawn.

FEE STRUCTURE

     Details of fees are attached as Appx ‘A’ . Messing charges will charged as actual. The actual fees structure will be reflected in admission documents. The mode of payment of fees is through a demand draft drawn in favour of Army Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, payable at Bangalore.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

     On joining the Institute, an amount of Rs 35,000/- refundable security deposit (Institute Security deposit Rs 30,000/- and Hostel security deposit of Rs 5,000/-) is required to be paid.  Security deposit will be refunded at the time of leaving the Institute.  No interest will be paid on the security deposit and only the original amount of security deposit will be refunded.  Dues, if any, will be deducted from the security deposit.

MODE OF PAYMENT

(a)      Annual Fees, One Time Payment, Miscellaneous Charges to be paid by DD in favour of            Institute Fund, AIHM&CT, payable at Bangalore. (Rs 91,500/-)
(b)       Hostel Fees by DD in favour of Hostel Fund, AIHM&CT payable at Bangalore.(Rs 13,000/-)
(c)       Advance for messing charges @ Rs 2,000/- per month- Rs 20,000/- in favour of  AIHM&CT            payable at Bangalore. (Rs 20,000/- One DD)

 
REGISTRATION FEES

           Once the admission results are declared the selected candidates will submit willingness certificate to join the course together with a sum of Rs.10,000/- as registration fees by DD in favour of AIHM&CT payable at Bangalore. This amount will be adjusted against tuition fees on joining the course.

REFUND OF FEES AND ALLIED CHARGES

            (a)       Refund of  Registration Fee Before Commencement of the Course/Cut off Date.  In case a candidate withdraws before commencement of the course/cut off date, full Registration fee less Rs 1000/- processing charges will be refunded.
           
            (b)       Refund of Fees after Commencement of the Course but Before Last Date of Admission if Seat is filled by Another Candidate.  Refund of fees after commencement of the course but before last date of  admission, if seat is filled by another candidate will be as under:-

                        (i)        Initial Registration Fees           -          Full Registration fees less

(d) Withdrawal of students after first year/subsequent years.(Authority- AWES letter No. B/45903/SC/AWES dated 19 dec 2008) If a student withdraws after first year or later due to any reason whatsoever, clearance certificate would only be given to him/her after ensuring the following:-

  1. Admission Fees                        -            No Refund
  2. Security Deposit                     -          To be adjusted against tuition fee for balance                                                              period of the course.
  3. Student Association Fees        -             No refund
  4. Tuition Fees                             -            To be charged for balance period of entire course.
  5. Hostel Charges                       -            Room rent for complete duration of the course to                                                               be charged.
  6. Messing                                   -           As per actual. A single day of the month will be treated as a month.
  7. Other Charges                        -           As per actual. A single day of the  Month will be treated as a Month.

  (e) Refund of Fees from Students who join NDA/OTA. Refund of fees will be uniformly applied irrespective of the fact whether a student withdraws after selection for NDA/OTA or for any other reason.

JURISDICTIONS OF COURT IN CASE OF DISPUTE IF ANY

     All disputes about sale of prospectus, conduct of examination, admission to the institute and any other matter pertaining to Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (AIHM&CT) shall fall within the jurisdiction of courts in Bangalore only.

CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE

AIHM&CT lays stress on conduct and discipline
(a)       Every student is required to conduct himself/herself in a disciplined and matured manner.  They should be punctilious in paying compliments to members of the staff.
(b)       All students will be properly attired at all times.  Students will get the formal items of attire stitched as per the dress regulations laid down by AIHM & CT.  Details of various formal wear are laid down in the joining instructions.
(c)       Each student will be issued an identity card having his/her photograph affixed to it.  The identity card must be carried by the student at all times and presented for inspection when demanded by an authorised person.
(d)       It is desirable that the students help in maintaining the infrastructure and keeping the campus clean and tidy.
(e)       It is imperative that the students should be present on the day of opening and closing of each term. 
(f)        Students are required to be punctual and regular in attending classes and to appear for all tests and examinations.  If the attendance falls below 75%, or if his/her academic performance is not upto the required standard, he/she may be debarred from attending the annual examination.  
(g)       Breach of discipline and failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute and hostels will render a student liable for disciplinary action, rustication.
(h)       Students should not participate in any political and anti-social activities.
(j)        If any of the statement made in the application form or any information provided by the candidate in connection with his/her admission is found to be false or incorrect at any later date, his/her admission will be cancelled.  Fees will be forfeited and he/she may be expelled from the Institute.

ACCIDENT

     The Institute will not be responsible for any accident to the students during their training and stay at the Institute.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

      Change of address if any, as given in para 13(a) of the application form should be intimated immediately along with correct telephone no. and mobile number of the parents, to avoid loss of communication.

LOCAL GUARDIAN

      The parents of the students should nominate a local guardian residing at Bangalore for immediate communication concerning the student.

UNDERTAKING

  • All candidates admitted to the Institute are required to give the following undertakings duly authenticated by the parent along with the application form:-
    (a)       I have read all the rules of admission to the current year and after understanding these rules, I have filled in the application forms for admission to the current academic year.
     (b)      The information given by me in the application form is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.
     (c)      I have not been debarred from appearing in any Government constituted or statutory examination.
     (d)      I understand that no other document other than those attached to the Application Form will be entertained for the purpose of claims/concession etc, in connection with my admission.    
    (e)       I hereby agree to conform to any rules, acts and laws enforced by the Govt and hereby undertake that as long as I am a student of AIHM & CT, I will do nothing either inside or outside AIHM & CT, which may result in disciplinary action against me under the rules, acts and laws.
    (f)       I fully understand that the Principal of AIHM & CT, where I am admitted, will have full liberty to expel/rusticate me from AIHM & CT for any infringement of the rules of Conduct and Discipline prescribed by AIHM & CT/ University, if I fail to abide by any of the undertaking given above.

PROFORMA OF UNDERTAKINGS SHOULD BE ATTACHED (DECLARATION BY CANDIDATE) WITH THE COMPLETED COPY OF APPLICATION FORM.
NOTE:

  1. The photographs of the candidates affixed should be attested by Gazetted Officer/Principal of School/College.

  2. Wherever the signatures of the candidates/parents are required the same should be endorsed to avoid further correspondence and delay in scrutinizing the application for correctness.

RAGGING

(a)       Ragging is banned in educational Institution and hostels and any one indulging in such acts shall be subjected to punishment by a Court of Law/concerned authorities.
(b)         The following extract and  copy of letter are appended below:-
(i) Extract from the circular No.ED 99 URC 99 dated 16 Aug 1999 issued by the Education Department, Govt of Karnataka. reproduced in Karnataka Education Act, 1983        (Karnataka Act No. 1 of 1995)    Section 2 (29)

“Ragging” means causing inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violated his persons or exposes him to ridicule or to forbear from doing any lawful act, by intimidating wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining, or injuring him or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any treat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force”.

(ii)  Army HQ AWES letter No B/45807/WC/AWES/CW-09 dated 26 Apr 2000.

    1. Some instances of ragging of students of a most unbecoming and inhuman nature have been reported in AWES run Army Public Schools and vocational institutions. Such cases, besides damaging a student’s psyche, adversely affect the reputation of the army in general and the institution in particular.
    2. (ab)      With immediate effect all forms of ragging will be strictly forbidden in AWES run institutions.
    3. (ac)      Management must ensure strict compliance and take strict disciplinary action against defaulters
    4. This has the approval of the Adjutant General.

(iii)   Ragging is not allowed in the college. Students accused of ragging and found guildty after due investigations, would be expelled from the college
